Iruppu Falls   |   Kodagu

Also called as the Lakshmana Teertha falls named after the tributary of Cauvery connected with this falls, Irupu falls is located in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, also bordering the neighbouring state of Kerala through Waynad. Other attractions connected to this waterfall is the Bramhagiri peak that can be reached by a journey through the forest connected to the waterfall; and the Rameshwara temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Legend says that Rama and Lakshmana took this path on their quest to fins Sita, and this waterfall was formed by an arrow shot by Lakshama to make a drinking water source for their army. It is believed that Lakshmana Teertha holds healing capacities, and this attracts a large number of pilgrims from around the state. At a distance of 260 kilometres from Bengaluru and 120 kilometres from Mysuru, Irupu falls is easily accessible by road. Like all waterfalls, monsoons are the best time to visit Irupu for a breath-taking sight.
