Trikuteshwara Temple   |   Gadag

Dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Saraswathi, the Trikuteshwara Temple of Gadag is another architectural masterpiece of Karnataka. The temple is said to have been planned by the great sculptor ‘Amara Shilpi – Jakanachari’, and is another feather on the cap of Chalukya style of architecture.

The sanctum of the temple houses three lingams on a single stone, representing Bramha, Vishnu and Maheshwara. The shrine is full of pillars and walls embedded with intricate carvings that reflect the times they were built in. There are also shrines dedicated to other Goddesses in the same temple, and balconies and stone pillars with exquisite stone work.

The area is home to a number of other Chalukya architectural monuments like Veera Narayana and Someshwara temples. Though some parts of these shrines have not been well preserved over time, they are still an art lover’s paradise.
